Auto carriers business rules
You can set up auto carrier business rules for the following consignment partners:
Pickup or delivery point
A carrier will be assigned to a job if the pickup or delivery point is a business specified in the rule.
You can also specify:
- Protection type (ambient, chilled or frozen).
My business
A carrier will be assigned to a job if it is created by one of your businesses specified in the rule.
You can also specify:
- Protection type (ambient, chilled or frozen),
- Rating zone (destination rating zone - useful where a carrier manages all deliveries to a region)
My customer
A carrier will be assigned to a job if the job is created by one of your customers specified in the rule.
You can also specify:
- Protection type (ambient, chilled or frozen),
- Sub-contractor
- Rating zone (destination rating zone - useful where a carrier manages all deliveries to a region)
- Destination (pickup or delivery point)
Setting up an auto carrier rule
Depending on the type of rule you want to set up, go to either My Business, My Customers, or My Pickup/Delivery Points(Only if permissions allow) in the Admin section of eCargo Web.
In this example, we will create a rule for a business under My Business.
Click on the business you want to create a rule for, then navigate to the Auto Carriers tab.
Link Auto Carrier will open a box where you can fill out details for the auto carrier rule.
You need to fill out the carrier name, and either the destination or rating zone. Sub-contractor and protection type are optional. Save the rule, and it will now apply to all jobs created by the business.
Importing auto carriers master data
You can bulk import master data for your customers in Import Auto Carrier Master Data under the Admin section of eCargo Web.
File format
Auto carriers master data needs to be in a .csv (comma separated values) format. CSVs can be created in Excel - just be sure to save the file with a .csv extension.
You should also make sure that there are no spaces before or after values, as these will be interpreted as part of the data.
Text is encoded using windows-1252 (the format preferred by Excel).
The CSV file must be structured as follows (see attachments for an example file):
Field |
Description |
Required? |
Supplier |
Business name of the customer site that is creating the jobs. |
Yes |
Destination |
Destination store name or other business which jobs are delivered to. |
Must have one of destination, zone, or protection. |
Zone |
Delivery rating zone. These are the same zones used by the rates you have set up, which also includes any cascading zone rules.
Protection |
Protection type of the delivery (Ambient, Chilled, or Frozen).
Carrier |
Prime carrier to be assigned to the jobs. | Yes |
Subcontractor |
Subcontractor to be assigned to the jobs. | Optional |
After you've imported the file, you will be alerted to any errors (such as names not matching the ones in eCargo). Correct the errors in the file, then re-upload it.
