Once a consignment is created, it then needs to be processed through it's lifecycle, which is described in How freight jobs work in eCargo.
Consignments can also be created by importing a CSV file via the eCargo Web application, or automatically from your business' Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This is done by eCargo's application programming interface (API) between your ERP system and eCargo.

Allocate a vehicle
Once a carrier has been assigned the Vehicle field will be highlighted, awaiting the Vehicle details to be entered.
Assigning a vehicle confirms for the customer that the carrier has accepted the consignment and has scheduled the pickup. On saving the status will change from Assigned to Confirmed.
Update item quantities
Once the goods have been picked and finalised the consignment item quantities may need updating. To do this click into each of the Unit of Measure (UOM) fields, change the value as required and save.
Note: Once the consignment has been picked up, moving into the In transit status, the item quantities cannot be changed - unless you are an administrator.

The Pickup from and Deliver to business can be changed by clicking on the dropdown list and selecting another business.
The address can be changed for the consignment by clicking the Edit button, changing the address then clicking Done and saving.

- Owner/creator
- Logistics provider
- Division manager
Only an Admin user can change a consignment business or address for a finalised consignment (in transit or delivered).
Confirm pickup
The consignment can be confirmed as picked up by the carrier by entering the Actual pickup date/time. Click the Now button enter enter the current date/time, or enter by using the Date and Time fields.
Once the Actual Pickup from date/time is entered and saved the status will change to In transit.
The consignment will also calculate the freight costs once it moves into the In transit status.
Confirm delivery
To confirm delivery of the consignment enter the date and time it was delivered to the customer in the Actual Deliver to fields.
Once the Actual Deliver to date/time is entered and saved the status will change to Delivered.
Cancel consignment
To cancel a consignment click the Actions dropdown then select Cancel.
A confirmation window will appear, requesting a reason for the cancellation. Once a reason has been entered the Cancel consignment button will become active, allowing you to complete the cancellation process.
Once cancelled the status of the consignment will be displayed in red showing as Withdrawn.
Loading and viewing documents
The Documents feature allows users to load and view documents associated with the consignment, such as Proof of Delivery (POD) documents, Dangerous Goods declarations, Booking confirmations etc.
To view the document click the document name.
Currently, documents can only be added to the consignment via the Update Consignment API.
All documents will be archived after 24 months.
